Slime Vol. 33 Hits No. 1 on Billboard Japan Book Chart

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Comic Edition Vol. 33 has gone straight to No. 1 on the Billboard Japan Book Hot 100.

The chart was released on Oct. 15 and covers sales for the week of Oct. 5 to 11, according to Billboard. It is the series’ third No. 1 on the chart, which ranks books by combining physical shop sales, online sales and e-book sales.

The new volume led in two of those three measures. It ranked No. 1 in brick-and-mortar stores and No. 1 in e-books, alongside No. 10 in e-commerce.

The comic edition is drawn by Taiki Kawakami from the story by Fuse, with character designs by Mitz Vah. Publisher Kodansha lists the volume as released on Oct. 8, 2026, with 192 pages under its Sirius KC imprint, according to Kodansha. The listing gives the standard edition ISBN as 9784065451199. A separate mini-clear-file special edition was also listed for the same release date.

Billboard Japan confirmed the debut at No. 1 with no previous rank and one week on the chart in a dedicated news report, according to Billboard Japan.

Last week’s leader drops to second place. World Trigger Vol. 30, which was No. 1 in the previous week, now sits at No. 2 overall. It held No. 2 in both brick-and-mortar stores and e-books.

The Heroic Legend of Arslan Vol. 25 enters at No. 3. It is a new debut on this week’s chart.

Just behind it comes a fast climber. You, Like a Star by Yuu Nagira rose from No. 13 to No. 4, a new peak for the title. The book also topped Billboard Japan’s Hot Bungei Books chart, which tracks literary titles.

What makes this stand out is the timing. Vol. 33 arrived on Oct. 8, midway through the tracking week, and still led both shop sales and digital sales to take the overall crown.
