Apple wants one small screen to run your living room.

The technology company unveiled HomeView, a seven-inch display that brings its apps and home-management software together in one place, at a “Welcome Home” event on 13 October 2026. Dezeen Apple calls it “The Ultimate Smart Home Dashboard”. Apple Newsroom

It is built for entertainment as much as organisation. HomeView can play music, open a recipe, make a FaceTime video call and show content synchronised to Messages, Calendar and Reminders. The front-facing camera and familiar layout of home screen, apps and widgets will feel familiar to anyone who has used an Apple touchscreen.

It also works as a centralised control point for the house. HomeView acts as a physical dashboard for the Apple Home app, which was released in 2022 to manage smart locks, appliances, cameras, thermostats and doorbells. Users can control those devices by touch or by voice.

The device recognises who is talking to it. Face recognition supports up to six people per device, with personalised settings for each user. An intercom system can link multiple HomeView devices in the same household, so rooms can call each other.

There are two versions. One is a self-standing model on a base with an integrated speaker. The other is a wall-mounted model.

The tabletop version has a case and thick base made from recycled aluminium, with a rounded shape and a screen that moves. It comes in four colour options: silver, starlight, rose pink and space grey. The screen itself is a 7-inch Liquid Retina display, Apple’s name for its high-resolution screen.

Voice control runs through Siri AI, described by Apple as a new version of Siri powered by next-generation Apple Intelligence and advanced Apple silicon. Alongside HomeView, Apple released updated home products including cameras, locks and thermostats.

For busy households, this means less hunting for a phone. Recipes in the kitchen, calls in the living room and lights, locks and heating all sit in one spot.

HomeView is priced at US$299, with a mid-November release planned. MacRumors Bloomberg
