Jason Statham Returns in The Beekeeper 2 Trailer Ahead of January 2027 Release

Jason Statham is back as former government assassin Adam Clay in The Beekeeper 2, with Amazon MGM Studios releasing the first trailer for the sequel.

The film is scheduled for theatrical release on Jan. 15, 2027, according to The Hollywood Reporter. That means cinemas first, with no streaming debut alongside it. The official teaser also advertises a cinema-only opening in January 2027, per Amazon MGM Studios.

A new director is in charge. Timo Tjahjanto directed The Beekeeper 2, taking over from David Ayer, who directed the original 2024 The Beekeeper. The change puts a different filmmaker at the helm for the second round.

Four familiar faces return alongside Statham. Jeremy Irons, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Bobby Naderi and Jemma Redgrave reprise their roles from the first film, meaning they play the same characters again. Irons plays Wallace Westwyld.

Three new names join the series. Yara Shahidi, Pom Klementieff and Adam Copeland are newcomers to the franchise in the sequel. A franchise, in plain terms, is a series of connected films built around the same characters.

Behind the camera, the writing and producing team is set. The film is based on a screenplay by Kurt Wimmer and Zak Penn, the written dialogue and structure, from a story and characters created by Wimmer. Jason Statham, Chris Long and Kurt Wimmer share producer credits, the roles that shepherd a film from development to release.

The sequel follows a strong cinema run. The original The Beekeeper surpassed $160 million at the global box office in US dollars, as reported on Oct. 15, 2026, according to The Hollywood Reporter. That figure covers ticket sales worldwide.

The new film's date gives it extra room. Its Jan. 15, 2027 opening falls on the Martin Luther King Jr. four-day holiday weekend in the United States, per Deadline. The long weekend adds a Monday holiday to the usual Friday-to-Sunday opening period.

The trailer arrived exactly as flagged. A black-and-yellow poster depicting Statham announced that the first trailer would land on Oct. 15, 2026, per Yahoo. A teaser trailer is a short early preview designed to announce a film rather than explain its plot. The official teaser is now published on Amazon MGM Studios' official YouTube channel.

For fans, this means the wait has a date. Same lead. Same world. Cinemas in January.
