Queen Letizia of Spain closed a 22-year gap in her jewellery box at the 75th Premio Planeta de Novela in Barcelona on 15 October 2026.

She wore a diamond bracelet that had not been seen in public for 22 years, according to Hello! Magazine. The Premio Planeta de Novela, Spain's major annual prize for an unpublished novel, held its 75th edition in the city. King Felipe VI of Spain also attended and spoke at the ceremony.

Isabel Allende was named the winner of the 75th Premio Planeta Award. King Felipe took the microphone during the presentation evening, as reported by Hola!.

The bracelet carries a long history. Queen Letizia was last seen wearing it at a pre-wedding event in Copenhagen on the eve of the nuptials of King Frederik of Denmark and Queen Mary of Denmark in May 2004. She attended that celebration with her then-fiancé Felipe.

Twenty-two years is a long wait. The Danish events came less than two weeks before Letizia and Felipe's own royal wedding on 22 May 2004 in Madrid. The bracelet has been in Queen Letizia's collection since before her marriage.

In Barcelona she paired the bracelet with PDPAOLA Pave Twist Hoops earrings. Her engagement ring is a diamond-covered band.

The Barcelona appearance followed a busy official run. On 9 October 2026 she presided over the institutional World Mental Health Day 2026 event at the Hotel Ilunion Atrium in Madrid, according to Casa Real.

What makes this stand out is the timing. A jewel kept out of sight since her engaged days returned for a literary night two decades into her reign as queen.
