Serielizados opens in Barcelona with In Vitro and a packed guest list

Barcelona's Serielizados festival opens on Oct. 19 with the Catalan premiere of "In Vitro," a 3Cat-HBO Max series. The 13th Barcelona Series Festival runs from Oct. 19 to 28, as reported by Variety. It brings ten days of premieres, guests and industry meetings to the city.
The guest list is wide. Actors Carmen Machi and Victoria Martín, directors Rodrigo Sorogoyen and Hagai Levi, "Sherlock" creator Steven Moffat with producer Sue Vertue, and chef Ferran Adrià are all expected.
Sorogoyen has an extra job. He serves as president of the DAMA jury, according to the festival. Moffat is billed as the edition's international guest.
Competition sits at the centre. Six international series will compete, alongside four Spanish titles in the national competition. That national slate is led by the world premiere, meaning its first public screening anywhere, of "Celeste 2" from Movistar Plus+ and 100 Balas.
The national selection also includes the Catalan premiere of Movistar Plus+ Original "Killing a Bear." Filmin's "Segunda temporada" is in competition, alongside the Catalonia premiere of "Más allá de la sociedad," the festival has confirmed.
There is a business side too. Serielizados Pro will host its second Mind the Gap international pitch, meaning creators present new ideas live to potential buyers, with 11 premium projects. More than 300 delegates are expected, including representatives from YouTube, Mubi, RTVE, Arte France, Beta Film and ZDF.
Food meets television in one session. Adrià will join journalist Marc Casanovas for a conversation about the 3Cat series "Gènesi." The in-person programme also includes premieres linked to J.A. Bayona, Carles Porta and Justo Molinero.
The festival was co-founded by Betu Martínez Molero with Víctor Sala. For fans, this means one place to catch new series first and hear directly from the people who make them.
