Eight Generation Z voters who voted for President Trump in 2024 described varying degrees of unhappiness and disappointment with politics, with some saying they regret supporting him.

Their accounts came in a virtual focus group convened last week by Navigator Research, a left-leaning polling group. The eight participants ranged in age from 20 to 29 and took part from Florida, Mississippi, Ohio, Texas and South Carolina, according to NPR.

When asked to grade Trump's job performance, six of the eight participants gave him a D or an F, while the other two gave him a C. The conversation then turned to the current elections. Four participants said they intend to back Republicans, three said they intend to vote for Democrats and one participant was still deciding.

The discussion followed broader Navigator polling released in August on regret among young Trump supporters. That polling found nearly a third of voters under age 30 who backed Trump regret their vote, a higher share than among older generations.

An account of that August polling reported that 31 percent of Generation Z voters who supported Trump say they regret it, according to The Hill. In the 2024 election overall, a majority of voters ages 18 to 29 voted for Democrat Kamala Harris. Compared with the 2020 election, however, young voters as a group swung toward Trump, according to The Atlantic. With eight participants, the group captures how a few individual voters describe their choices rather than the views of young voters as a whole.
