Anna Faris Says 'It Hurts' After Chuck Lorre Memoir Revisits Mom Exit

Anna Faris answered Chuck Lorre with one word first: “Yikes.”
The actor posted a statement on 15 October on Instagram, under her handle @annafaris, in response to passages about her in Lorre’s new memoir. “Of course it hurts,” she wrote of the way he described her time on his CBS series Mom Variety.
Lorre’s book is titled Sitcom: A Memoir. It was scheduled for release on 13 October. In it, he wrote that his initial reluctance to hire Faris for Mom was “in fact, correct” Variety.
He linked that reluctance to his turbulent experience working with Charlie Sheen on Two and a Half Men, another Lorre co-created series. He wrote that the earlier clash fuelled his suspicions about casting Faris. He also wrote that after six years she left Mom for mysterious reasons that were not mysterious to anyone on the show.
Faris pushed back without anger. She wrote that Lorre gave her a job she loved and that she never took a day of it for granted for seven years Instagram. She said she was proud of what they made together Deadline.
She described his remarks about her departure as unexpected People. She also shared a personal note. She said she has now been sober for a year and a half.
Mom ran for eight seasons on CBS from 2013 to 2021. Faris starred as a recovering alcoholic, opposite Allison Janney as her mother, also a recovering alcoholic. Faris left the series in 2020 to pursue new opportunities.
What makes this stand out is the history in the room. A long-running network series keeps a crew of hundreds in work, season to season. Faris framed her seven years in those terms, as steady work she valued, even while saying the memoir passage stung.
