Hillary Rodham Clinton handed designer Tory Burch a 2026 Hillary Rodham Clinton Award at Georgetown University in Washington.

Clinton did the presenting herself. Burch received the award for her leadership of the Tory Burch Foundation, her company’s charitable organisation that supports women business owners, according to WWD.

The host was the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security, the university institute that studies women’s roles in peace and security. It holds the awards each year to recognise people working towards a more peaceful and secure world.

Burch was not the only recipient. Muhammad Yunus, the Bangladeshi economist and Nobel laureate, Reema Nanavaty, the Indian labour organiser, and Muna Sukhtian, the Jordanian business leader, were honoured alongside her for work to expand women’s economic opportunity.

The citation for Burch centred on money lent and businesses built. The Tory Burch Foundation, working in partnership with Bank of America, the US bank, has helped 5,600 entrepreneurs gain access to $100 million in low-interest loans.

The foundation has now set a five-year target. It aims to generate more than $1 billion in economic impact through women entrepreneurs by 2030.

The event, titled the 2026 Hillary Rodham Clinton Awards Ceremony for Advancing Women in Peace and Security, took place on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2026. The Georgetown events listing put the start time at 10:30am EDT and named Gaston, the university’s historic hall, as the venue.

What makes this stand out is the mix on the stage. A fashion founder stood with an economist, an organiser and an investor. The link was practical help for women earning a living.
