Adelaide Ends Gold Coast's Six-Game AFLW Winning Streak

Adelaide has ended Gold Coast's six-game winning streak in the AFLW with a 10-point win at home.
The Crows won 10.3 (63) to 7.11 (53) at Thomas Farms Oval in Adelaide on Friday, 16 October, in Round 10 of the 2026 NAB AFLW Season ABC AFL. In footy notation that means 10 goals and three behinds to seven goals and 11 behinds. Each goal is worth six points and each behind is worth one.
The result mattered for the ladder. Adelaide moved to eighth with five wins and five losses ABC. It was only the second time this season the Crows have recorded back-to-back wins. They started the round in tenth at 4-5 and needing to keep winning to keep their finals hopes alive.
Irish sisters Grace Kelly and Niamh Kelly set the tone in attack. Grace kicked three goals from 12 disposals. Niamh kicked two goals from 20 disposals. A disposal is a kick or handpass, the basic measure of involvement in Australian rules football.
Eighteen-year-old Chloe Bown gave Adelaide plenty of drive. She collected 25 disposals and kicked a goal. Her work rate helped the Crows stay in front when Gold Coast pressed.
Gold Coast had more scoring shots, 18 to Adelaide's 13, but paid for inaccuracy. The Suns kicked 7.11 after failing to convert their chances. Adelaide was straighter at 10.3 and made its opportunities count. Ten points was the final gap.
There was a cost for the Crows. Midfielder Maddi Newman injured her left knee and was subbed off and took no further part in the game. A substitute is a tactical replacement, used here after an injury.
For fans, this means the finals race stays open. Adelaide is back to even at 5-5 and back in the eight. Gold Coast loses momentum after six straight wins but remains in contention on the back of that run.
