Lady Louise Windsor spent the summer holidays cooking for paying guests in rented lodges at Balmoral.

The 22-year-old graduate of the University of St Andrews took the kitchen job as her second paid role of the summer break. Hello Magazine reported the work on 17 October 2026, crediting the account to the Daily Mail, which headlined its story 'The very unfussy life of Lady Louise'.

Balmoral is the King's private Scottish estate. Parts of the wider estate let lodges and cottages to holidaymakers, and Lady Louise was cooking for people renting that accommodation rather than for family guests in the big house.

Earlier in the same break, Lady Louise worked at the Royal Windsor Horse Show, the annual equestrian event held in Windsor Great Park. Her paid posts there were listed as principal organiser, administrator and concierge, covering everything from paperwork to looking after visitors. Officials at the show described her as hard-working and a real asset, according to the Daily Mail in May 2026.

It is not her first time in a summer uniform. During her A-levels, Lady Louise worked at a garden centre in Surrey near Bagshot Park for a reported £6.83 an hour. Hello Magazine first reported that job in August 2022, citing The Sun. The work included helping on the tills, greeting customers, and pruning and potting plants.

Born on 8 November 2003, according to the Royal Family, Lady Louise has built a steady record of paid holiday work alongside study. The garden centre came first. The Horse Show and the Balmoral kitchen followed this summer after graduation.

What makes this stand out is the ordinariness of the rota. Tills. Kitchens. Visitor lanyards. No ceremony, just shifts.
