The Princess of Wales has wished England's men's, women's and wheelchair rugby league teams well ahead of the Rugby League World Cup in Australia. The message was posted on the KensingtonRoyal X account, according to Royal Central.

Three squads. One message. Catherine, Princess of Wales, wished the three England teams the best as they travel to Australia. She also wished good luck to the players, coaches and support staff representing England.

England's men start their campaign against Tonga in Perth. England's women open against Wales before facing hosts Australia. Matches are scheduled across Perth, Wollongong, Sydney and Brisbane.

The message fits a formal role. Catherine became patron of the Rugby Football League and the Rugby Football Union in February 2022. A patron, in royal terms, is the named supporter who lends a public profile to an organisation.

She has a track record with the league game. The Princess of Wales hosted a reception for the World Cup-winning England Wheelchair Rugby League team, as recorded by royal.uk. That final drew a capacity crowd of 4,500, a new record for wheelchair rugby league. England Rugby League has previously noted her attendance at a 2021 World Cup quarter-final.

For fans, this means all three England sides head to Australia with the same public send-off. No new fixture. No new squad news. Just a short note of support before the long trip.
