Greg Kiltie scored twice as Kilmarnock beat Motherwell 3-2 to move off the bottom of the Scottish Premiership on Saturday 17 October 2026.

It was a five-goal thriller at Rugby Park. Kiltie struck in the second minute to give Kilmarnock the perfect start, but Motherwell turned the game around through Alex Lowry and Seb Palmer-Houlden The Guardian.

Tyreece John-Jules levelled for the hosts before Kiltie settled it in the 69th minute. The live reporting described Lowry and Palmer-Houlden putting Motherwell in front before John-Jules levelled the score BBC Sport. For Motherwell, the defeat was a fifth in a row in the league.

Kilmarnock needed that. They had been stuck at the foot of the table. One win does not fix everything, but the noise on the final whistle told its own story.

Aberdeen gave their supporters a far calmer afternoon. They beat St Mirren 3-1 at Pittodrie in the 15:00 kick-off. Ayoub Mouloua and Kevin Nisbet were among the scorers for the Dons.

Eseosa Sule hit St Mirren’s equaliser to briefly make it a contest. It did not last. St Mirren arrived in Aberdeen on four straight league defeats, including a 5-0 loss at Hearts last time out, and this result made it five in a row.

Falkirk continued their strong run with a 2-1 win away to Hibernian. Jacob Murrell struck to put Falkirk 2-0 up inside 37 minutes. Owen Elding pulled one back for Hibs, but the visitors held on.

It was another neat result for a Falkirk side who were unbeaten in four matches in all competitions going into the weekend. Hibs pushed late. They could not find a second goal.

The day’s other game finished level. Dundee United drew 1-1 away at St Johnstone. Josh Fowler gave the home side the lead before Lyall Cameron equalised in the 79th minute.

What makes this stand out is how much the mood shifted in one afternoon. Kilmarnock have hope again. Aberdeen have momentum. Falkirk have belief on the road.

For fans, this means a tighter bottom half and a louder title race above. Ninety minutes. Four grounds. Plenty to talk about on the way home.
