9-1-1: Nashville Pays Tribute to Fiona Lowe in Season 2 Premiere

9-1-1: Nashville closed its second-season premiere with an on-screen tribute to Fiona Lowe, the 13-year-old daughter of executive producer and director Chad Lowe.
The episode was titled "Going Rogue". After the story ended, the screen cut to black. A title card read "In loving memory, Fiona Lowe" alongside a photograph of her, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Deadline reported the card appeared just before the closing credits. Page Six noted the photograph showed Fiona against an outdoor background. It ran without commentary. It was the final image before the credits.
Fiona died on Sept. 29. She was 13. Her parents, Chad Lowe and his wife Kim Painter, announced her death in a statement shared with People. "We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona," the family said in that Sept. 29 statement.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner ruled her manner of death as suicide. Lowe and Painter are also parents to two other daughters, Mabel Painter, 17, and Nixie Barbara, 10.
Lowe later shared a message of hope following his daughter's death, as reported by the Los Angeles Times. Lowe is an Emmy-winning actor known for his starring role in Life Goes On. He has since built a career behind the camera as a director and as an executive producer, a senior role that oversees creative decisions and day-to-day production.
On 9-1-1: Nashville, Lowe holds both of those behind-camera roles. He previously worked on 9-1-1: Lone Star, the earlier spin-off — meaning a new series built from an existing one — that starred his brother, Rob Lowe.
9-1-1: Nashville was created by Ryan Murphy, Tim Minear and Rashad Raisani. Its ensemble cast includes Chris O'Donnell, Ryan Phillippe, Jessica Capshaw, Kimberly Williams-Paisley and LeAnn Rimes.
The tribute honoured a member of the production's own family. For viewers watching the premiere live or on catch-up, it needed no explanation. A name, a photograph and a few seconds of silence carried it.
