Barcelona hit Betis for five to stay clear at the top

Barcelona beat Real Betis 5-2 to stay five points clear at the top of La Liga. It was seven goals of noise, chaos and brilliant finishing on 17 October 2026. BBC Sport

Lamine Yamal led the way. The winger scored twice in Seville as Barcelona kept their winning run going. The club called it "The dream start continues" in its own match report. FC Barcelona

Dani Olmo was on the scoresheet too. So was Eric Garcia. Betis kept pushing and grabbed two goals of their own, but Barcelona always had another gear.

It was not a clean, simple win. Two goals were ruled out. A red card was shown during the 2-5 defeat for the hosts, which added to the stop-start feel of the night. FC Barcelona

The numbers are stacking up fast. Barcelona have now scored 39 league goals this season after this five-goal romp. That is the mark of a team that attacks in waves. Reuters

What makes this stand out is the control inside the chaos. Away in Seville is never easy. Betis score, the crowd lifts, and most teams wobble.

Barcelona did not. They answered every punch with another goal, and Yamal was at the heart of it again.
