SNL UK has turned its jokes on Shane Gillis, with Weekend Update co-host Ania Magliano answering his US monologue a week after it aired.

Magliano co-hosts Weekend Update, the show's long-running fake news desk, on the British version of Saturday Night Live. Her segment took direct aim at Gillis and his October 10 appearance on the American show Deadline.

She opened with a story about a Munich Oktoberfest ride operator giving free cycling shorts to female riders. The shorts, she said, stop women being up-skirted but leave them open to something much worse. As she delivered the punchline, a still of Gillis performing his monologue appeared beside her.

She did not stop there. Magliano then referenced Gillis accidentally dropping the F-bomb during an SNL sketch, for which he later apologised. "Last week on SNL, comedian Shane Gillis also caused controversy by dropping the F-bomb. Oh Shane, you're not allowed to say that, you stupid fucking cunt," she said.

The jokes were a response to Gillis's opening monologue in the United States. During that routine he complained that "women just dress like whores now" at the gym. That monologue ran for seven minutes on the October 10, 2026 episode of Saturday Night Live, according to NBC NBC.

The rest of the set stayed on his own attempts to lose weight. Gillis talked about taking up hiking, and about fellow comics Theo Von and Joe Rogan teasing him about how he looks in a sauna. He also joked about trying to work out in a public gym.

For viewers catching up, this is a transatlantic callback. The American SNL creates the moment, then the British SNL answers it from its own desk a week later.

Gillis has a complicated history with the franchise. He hosted the US show in 2024 and 2025 after being removed from its featured cast in 2019. That removal came days after his casting announcement, when resurfaced videos showed him mocking Asian accents and using ethnic and gay slurs.

Saturday Night Live UK is available to watch on Sky and NOW YouTube. The show's official UK YouTube channel clipped the moment as a short titled "Ania Magliano with the latest on Shane Gillis | SNL". Coverage of the exchange has already travelled, with The Daily Beast headlining its report "'SNL UK' Star Goes Nuclear on MAGA-Friendly Host" The Daily Beast.
