Exeter Northcott Theatre will premiere Made in Liverpool, a new play about Stuart Sutcliffe, the original fifth member of The Beatles. WhatsOnStage

The run plays 16 June to 4 July 2027 in Exeter. The press night, the evening reserved for critics, is on 24 June 2027. BroadwayWorld

The play is written by Gerard McCarthy. It is directed by Martin Berry, the artistic director of Exeter Northcott Theatre.

It is presented by Exeter Northcott Theatre with Julian Stoneman and Robert Mackintosh for Made in Liverpool Productions Ltd. Casting and further creative team details are still to be announced.

The plan is for the show to tour to other UK venues after Exeter before a London transfer. A transfer means the production moves from its original venue into a commercial London house.

The Exeter opening lands in the theatre's 60th anniversary year. Exeter Northcott opened in 1967.

For fans, this means a Beatles story told from the edge of the spotlight. Sutcliffe's name is known. His story is less often staged.

No tickets, prices or tour dates have been confirmed yet. Expect those details next.
