Saros Zenith update brings slow mode, tougher trials and boss rush

Saros just got easier, harder and stranger at the same time.
Housemarque released the Zenith update for Saros on 19 October 2026. The sci-fi shooter from the Finnish studio launched on 30 April on PS5, and the update is available to all owners at no additional charge, according to PlayStation Blog.
The idea is simple. New or struggling players get more help. Veteran players get more reasons to return.
For newcomers, the headline addition is Slow Game Speed. It slows the action by an adjustable amount and can be switched on manually or triggered automatically. Housemarque has also added 10 new Protection modifiers, optional tweaks that make each run easier to survive.
One of those is Corruption Melee Enhancement. It lets players unleash built-up Corruption for heavy melee damage. There are also new visual and control options aimed at greater accessibility, according to Eurogamer.
For players who want punishment, there are new Trial modifiers that make runs tougher. One example is Hostile Regeneration. Enemies hit with crowd-control effects will quickly regain health unless they are finished with a melee strike. Short version: no free hits.
Then there is Eclipse Layers. This is New Game Plus, a fresh run that unlocks once the game has been cleared. Each Layer is a more intense version of Saros with altered rules. Unlocking later Layers requires certain modifiers to be active, so players must shape the challenge to climb higher.
During Eclipse Layers, hero Arjun wears a sun-like crown and golden glowing armour. The glow grows depending on which modifiers are in play. The crown also matters for story hunters. Twelve new story visions have been added, and they can only be seen while wearing it.
Boss fights get their own mode too. Overlord Rush is a boss-rush mode, a straight run of boss battles with no long levels in between, built for 10-minute bursts. Its final set is called Totality. That one asks players to face all eight Overlords in a single continuous gauntlet.
Housemarque said the team had always been wary about softening its games. The studio did not want to weaken Saros combat by cutting back on enemy projectiles, so it looked for other ways to open the game up.
What makes this stand out is the balance. Slower speed and gentler modifiers lower the barrier without rewriting the fights. Harder modifiers, layered replays and a full boss gauntlet give skilled players somewhere to go next.
