Battlefield 6 studio owns up to cosmetic blunders, stays quiet on AI

A soldier with "SECUTY" on his shoulder and another carrying five pistols pushed Battlefield Studios to explain itself.
The studio has admitted mistakes with some newly released Battlefield 6 cosmetics, outfits that change a character's look without changing how they play, after players flagged odd details and raised speculation about generative AI. It did not say whether generative AI played any role in making them, according to GameSpot.
The clearest error is a spelling slip. The standard issue McNeil skin reads "SECUTY" on the shoulder instead of "SECURITY". Battlefield Studios plans to fix that visual error in the Season 5, Phase 2 patch in November.
The five pistols are a different story. The Midnight Mirage skin shows a character with five sidearms. The studio said that was an intentional creative choice to reflect over-the-top action movie tropes, describing the concept as an operative with another backup weapon strapped to every spare inch of gear.
The problem, the studio conceded, was context. It acknowledged the Midnight Mirage design could look unintentional when released alongside other cosmetic anomalies. It said items that miss the mark do not reflect the quality standards players expect or that it sets for itself, after what it called a week of conversation, memes and candid feedback.
Battlefield Studios said letting a known visual error go live without quick acknowledgement creates confusion and erodes trust. It said it is examining its internal processes and workflows to pinpoint how the visual issues occurred and tighten quality control. It is also reviewing how it communicates known visual bugs, so players are not left wondering whether an issue was intentional or overlooked.
For players, this means one confirmed fix and one explanation. The typo gets corrected in November. The extra pistols stay as designed.
