Battlefield Studios has responded after Battlefield 6 players spotted the word “security” spelt “Secuty” on a Season 5 outfit and questioned a separate skin carrying five pistols.

The complaints spread after the season’s battle pass, a paid track that unlocks outfits and items as you play, went live. Some fans accused the studio of using generative AI, software that creates images and text from prompts, to make the cosmetics. IGN

The reply came through the BattlefieldComm account. It thanked players for “candid feedback” and said the team had heard their concerns, according to details reported by Eurogamer. The statement did not use the word AI. It neither admitted nor denied using generative technology.

On the spelling mistake, the studio said a correction was already planned. Patches on the McNeil character that read “Secuty” will be fixed in the Season 5 Phase 2 release. It did not explain how the typo happened.

The team added that letting a known visual error go live without a quick acknowledgement creates confusion and erodes trust. It said it is reviewing how it communicates known visual bugs to players.

The second complaint centred on the Midnight Mirage skin, an outfit that shows an operative with five pistols strapped across the body. The studio described it as an intentional creative choice. It called the look a nod to over-the-top action film tropes, where a character carries a back-up weapon on every spare inch of kit.

The studio added that it understands why the design could look like a mistake. Released alongside other cosmetic anomalies, the five-pistol look could read as unintentional. IGN reported that players had also criticised the skin for its odd weapon count.

Season 5 itself launched as planned with new maps, weapons, vehicles and gameplay changes. The cosmetics row has not changed that release plan.

For players, the practical point is simple. The “Secuty” patches stay in the game for now, with the fix tied to the next phase of the season rather than an immediate patch. The five pistols stay too, because the studio says that part was deliberate.

What makes this stand out is the silence on the main accusation. The statement addresses the typo and the design intent, but leaves the AI question untouched. That leaves players with a fix date for one issue and a creative explanation for the other, and no answer on how the art was made.
