Cineverse has acquired North American rights to The Night Driver, the thriller starring Josh Lucas, Alyssa Milano and David Arquette, as reported by Deadline on 19 October 2026. The deal covers the United States and Canada, where Cineverse will handle the release. It was struck after the film's premiere at Screamfest.

Lucas plays Hurdis Matheson, a travelling pharmaceutical salesman. Life on the road turns dark when he is stalked and framed for murders. Arquette plays Detective Granger, the detective trying to prove Matheson is innocent. The story follows one man trying to clear his name while another tries to uncover the truth.

Milano takes a leading role alongside Lucas and Arquette. The wider cast includes Charlotte Kirk, Elieen Deetz, Danielle Vasinova and Gina La Piana. That gives the film three central names supported by a larger ensemble.

Cineverse bought the rights from VMI International, which handled the sale, according to Deadline. The deal was negotiated by Jessica Russo for VMI and Dan Fisher for Cineverse. Russo is chief operating officer of productions and acquisitions at VMI. Fisher is vice-president of acquisitions at Cineverse.

The film is the directorial debut of Jeremy Weiss. In plain terms, it is the first feature film he has directed. The screenplay is by John Cork. Cork also published The Night Driver as a graphic novel of the same name, so the story first existed in illustrated book form before it reached the screen.

It was produced by Andre Relis, Jib Polhemus and Jessica Russo. Producers guide a film from development through delivery. Financing came from Bondit Media Capital, the company behind the production money. Executive producers, who often provide finance or key backing, are Sean S. Cunningham, Matthew Helderman, Grady Craig, Luke Taylor, Daniel Pike, Kevin Glynn, BJ Hendricks and James Rundquist.

For fans, this means the film now has a distributor for North America. Cineverse decides how and where audiences in the United States and Canada can watch it. The sale is complete. The launch plan comes next.
