Five new faces are heading to campus for HBO's Rooster.

Sutton Foster, Lamorne Morris, Michael Urie, O-T Fagbenle and Zavior Phillips have joined the comedy for Season 2 as guest stars, meaning they will appear in a limited number of episodes rather than across the whole run, as reported by Variety. Production on the new season is currently underway.

Foster will play Marti. Morris will play Caleb, and Urie will play Larry. Fagbenle joins as Hayes, with Phillips cast as Sam.

The series stars Steve Carell and Charly Clive as a father and daughter with a complicated relationship. It is a comedy series set on a college campus.

Behind the camera, Bill Lawrence and Matt Tarses serve as co-showrunners, the two writers in charge of the day-to-day running of the show. Warner Bros. Television produces the series in association with Doozer Productions.

For viewers, this means a wider circle around the central pair. Guest parts often bring new classmates, colleagues or family members into a campus story. Here, five named roles point to more people moving through that world.

The casting follows the show's renewal. Rooster was officially renewed for Season 2 at HBO Max, according to an announcement shared by Warner Bros. TV in April 2026. That is the standard step that keeps a series in production, with writers, crew and cast returning for another run.

There have also been changes to the core ensemble. Annie Mumolo, Maximo Salas and Rory Scovel were promoted to series regulars for Season 2, meaning they are contracted as full-time cast members rather than recurring or guest players, according to Deadline. The promotions were reported in August 2026.

No premiere date for Season 2 has been announced in the facts provided.
