Warner Bros. communications chief Chelsey Summey exits

Chelsey Summey has left Warner Bros. after less than three years as its top film communications executive.
The departure was first reported by Deadline on 19 October 2026. Summey held the title of Head of Communications, reporting to film chiefs Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy, according to that report.
The job put her in charge of strategic communications — press, messaging and corporate reputation — across the studio's film businesses. That remit covered Warner Bros. Pictures, New Line Cinema, Warner Bros. Pictures Animation, Warner Bros. Clockwork and Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures, Deadline reported.
Summey joined the studio in January 2024 as senior vice president of communications. Her appointment to the Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group was announced the previous month by Variety. She arrived from Amazon, where she had been Head of Corporate Communications for the film group at Amazon MGM Studios.
It was a return to the traditional studio system for an executive with deep roots there. Summey spent nearly a decade at 20th Century Fox, rising to senior vice president of corporate communications, before earlier spells in corporate communications and publicity at Paramount Pictures and the talent agency CAA, Deadline reported.
Her time at Fox ended during a turbulent period for the company. In May 2019 she held the title of Fox senior vice president of corporate communications and was among those affected by a new round of Disney-Fox layoffs after Disney's purchase of Fox assets, as reported by Deadline at the time.
At Warner Bros., Summey was named to The Hollywood Reporter's Women in Entertainment Class of 2024 as a corporate public relations executive, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
For people outside Hollywood, the role is largely unseen but central. The communications chief handles how a studio presents films, executives and release plans to the press and the public. No successor has been named in the verified reports.
