Dwayne Johnson's Lizard Music Set for Christmas 2027 Release

Amazon MGM Studios will release Lizard Music in theatres on December 25, 2027, giving Benny Safdie’s family adventure the Christmas Day slot, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film blends live action with CGI, or computer-created imagery. Dwayne Johnson leads the cast. It is a big holiday play for the studio’s United Artists label.
The story centres on a boy who finds a secret late-night broadcast of music-playing lizards. Newcomer Theo Clark Leber plays the boy, who is left to his own devices. The lizards play what the makers describe as otherworldly music.
Johnson plays Chicken Man. He is a man in his seventies with an unusual best friend: Claudia, a 111-year-old chicken.
Safdie directs from his own script. It is based on the novel of the same name by Daniel Pinkwater.
The wider cast includes Alicia Silverstone, Tim Heidecker, Arya Parvathi, Regina Hall, Colman Domingo, Jeff Goldblum, Rachel McAdams, Andrew Dice Clay and David Krumholtz. That is a broad mix of comedy, drama and family-film faces.
Behind the camera, Scott Stuber and Nick Nesbitt are producing for United Artists. Safdie is producing for Out for the Count Productions, Johnson is producing for Seven Bucks Productions, and David Koplan is producing for Magnetic Fields Entertainment, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The project came to the studio through United Artists, its acquisition arm for filmmaker-led titles. That deal was announced on October 16, 2025, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
What makes this stand out is the pairing. Safdie is known for intense, fast-moving adult stories. Here he turns to a late-night mystery built for children and parents. For fans, this means a long wait. Christmas 2027 is more than a year away.
