Painter and couturier meet in Rome for winter show Aura

A painter and a fashion designer are sharing top billing in Rome this winter.
Aura: Valentino Garavani and Ewa Juszkiewicz opened on 18 October 2026 at PM23 in Rome, Italy, and continues to 21 February 2027, Almine Rech lists. That is a four-month run. It covers Christmas, New Year and the quiet weeks after.
The show brings together the work of Ewa Juszkiewicz and fashion designer Valentino Garavani. Juszkiewicz is a Polish painter. Garavani is the designer behind the Valentino fashion house.
The venue is PM23 in Rome. PM23 is the Fondazione Valentino Garavani e Giancarlo Giammetti, the foundation named for Garavani and Giancarlo Giammetti. Its address for this show is Palazzo Mignanelli in Rome, Finestre sull'arte reports.
A palazzo is the Italian word for a grand urban building. Many in Rome now host exhibitions and cultural events. This one hosts a conversation across two disciplines.
The thread is metamorphosis. That means change of form, one thing becoming another. The organisers present it as the central motif and conceptual structure of Aura, Gagosian notes.
Think change. A garment changes how a body looks and moves. A painting changes how a face, a fabric or a pose reads. Aura uses that shared interest in transformation to place fashion and painting side by side.
For visitors, this means an easy way in. You do not need a background in either field. Follow the clothes. Follow the paint. Look for where one alters the other.
The timing helps. An October opening places Aura in Rome's autumn exhibition season. A February closing date leaves plenty of weekends for day trips and school-holiday visits.
The setting helps too. PM23 gives the project a domestic scale rather than a vast museum hall. Rooms, corridors and staircases shape how people meet the work. That closeness suits an exhibition built around bodies and dress.
What makes this stand out is the mix itself. Fashion exhibitions often explain craft and career. Painting exhibitions often explain image and reference. Here the two systems sit together, and the visitor can move between them without a guidebook.
Practical planning is simple. The show is in central Rome. The dates run from 18 October 2026 to 21 February 2027. Check opening hours with the venue before travelling, as hours can shift around public holidays.
