Lin-Manuel Miranda Sets Broadway Cast for Warriors Musical

Lin-Manuel Miranda has announced the principal cast for Warriors, his forthcoming Broadway musical.
Jasmine Cephas Jones and Amber Gray lead the company, with principal casting now complete, according to Broadway.com. It sets the company ahead of a spring launch on Broadway.
The full principal group names Jaci Calderon, Aneesa Folds, Julia Harriman, Sasha Hutchings, Gizel Jiménez, Kenita R. Miller, Sasha Allen, Casey Likes and Donald Webber Jr., alongside Jones and Gray, Variety reported. That is eleven performers. Principal cast means the leading players, distinct from the wider ensemble and understudies who are often announced later.
Previews begin on 9 March 2027 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, with opening night set for 8 April, according to Deadline. Previews are regular, ticketed performances staged before the official opening. The gap gives the creative team time to adjust scenes, songs and technical cues in front of live audiences.
Miranda wrote the book, music and lyrics with Eisa Davis. Book here means the spoken story and dialogue that holds the songs together. Jenny Koons will direct, with Andy Blankenbuehler as co-director and choreographer, the person who creates the dance and movement. Producers Thomas Kail, Miranda, Luis A. Miranda Jr. and Jeffrey Seller are behind the commercial production, overseeing budget, hiring and the route to Broadway.
The musical is based on Sol Yurick's 1965 novel and Paramount's 1979 action film. The stage version first appeared as a 2024 concept album by Miranda and Davis, executive produced by Nas and produced by Mike Elizondo. A concept album is a studio recording that tells a story through songs before any staging exists. That recording let the writers develop characters and sound. Now the same material is being rebuilt for live theatre, with sets, staging and a company to carry it night after night.
Some of the cast already know the material. Calderon took part in the summer 2026 workshop, a development stage where songs and scenes are tested, according to BroadwayWorld. Folds voices Cleon on the Warriors album, according to BroadwayWorld. For fans, this means the Broadway company blends new faces with voices from the recording. The next milestone is March, when previews show how that sound lands on stage.
