Jay-Z Reportedly Books Himself to Headline 2027 Super Bowl Halftime Show

Jay-Z has reportedly picked himself to headline the 2027 Super Bowl halftime show.
Puck was first to report the booking, with Deadline following on 20 October 2026. As of that date, there had been no official announcement from the NFL, Apple Music or Roc Nation, according to TheGrio.
The game is Super Bowl LXI. It is scheduled for 14 February 2027 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, in the Los Angeles area.
ESPN will air the game, with a simulcast — meaning a live showing at the same time — on ABC. The halftime show is the mid-game concert played between the two halves of the championship game for American football's NFL.
The self-booking is the twist. Jay-Z is the chief decision-maker on who plays the halftime show, and he chose himself for 2027, Puck reported. His company Roc Nation is the organiser behind the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show.
That role dates back to 2019, when Roc Nation secured a deal reported at $5 million a year to produce the halftime performance, according to TMZ. Since then Roc Nation has overseen a run that included Rihanna taking centre stage. Shawn "JAY-Z" Carter said at the time he was thrilled to welcome Rihanna to the show, the NFL announced.
If confirmed, Jay-Z would follow Bad Bunny. Bad Bunny headlined at Levi's Stadium in San Francisco, with appearances by Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin. That show drew 128.8 million viewers.
The number to beat is higher. Kendrick Lamar's 2025 halftime show drew a record-setting 133 million viewers.
Los Angeles is familiar territory for the show. Lamar co-headlined the 2022 halftime show in Los Angeles with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem and Mary J. Blige. 50 Cent also performed in that line-up.
What makes this stand out is the double role. Jay-Z has spent years choosing the headliner. For 2027, the reported choice is himself.
