Jay-Z Confirms He Will Perform at Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show

Jay-Z has confirmed that he will perform at the halftime show of Super Bowl LXI, the NFL championship game set for Feb. 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, in the Los Angeles area. Rolling Stone reported the confirmation on Oct. 27, 2026, ending weeks of reports about who would take the stage.
The halftime show is the musical performance during the break between the game's two halves, and it reaches a very large television audience. Jay-Z, who is 56, will be the headline act. His company, Roc Nation, has worked with the NFL on the show since 2019 under a co-production partnership, meaning the two organisations share responsibility for putting it together.
Reports began to circulate in mid-October. The Spokesman-Review reported on Oct. 20 that Jay-Z would star in his own halftime show. The Source followed on Oct. 21, saying he had chosen himself for the February performance. Puck News had reported about a week before the confirmation that Jay-Z had decided to take the gig himself.
Yahoo Sports reported that the halftime arrangement pays $5 million per year.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has spoken about the origins of the booking. When the league first reached agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, Goodell said, he asked Jay-Z to take the stage himself one day when the moment felt right.
Jay-Z has been performing at large venues in recent months. He headlined three nights at Yankee Stadium in New York, with guests including Eminem, Nas, Alicia Keys, and Beyoncé and her daughter Blue Ivy. He closed that run with two shows at SoFi Stadium, the same venue that will host the Super Bowl, featuring Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre and Too Short.
The game is still about four months away. For anyone planning to watch, the halftime show will air as part of the broadcast of the game itself, and fans will be able to see the performance without buying a ticket to the stadium.
