American Horror Story will return for a 14th season on FX.

The renewal was announced a week ahead of the Season 13 finale, according to Deadline. It keeps alive a series that launched in 2011 and is now the longest-running hour-long series in FX history.

The current season is still playing out. The finale is scheduled for Thursday, 29 October, with episodes 11 and 12 airing the Thursday before it. New episodes become available at 9 p.m. ET/PT on FX and 9 p.m. PT on Hulu.

The decision follows a strong start for Season 13. FX said the season delivered the biggest streaming premiere in American Horror Story history. The debut episode also entered Nielsen's Streaming Top 10 chart, and the network said it was creator Ryan Murphy's biggest launch ever on Hulu and Disney+.

That momentum matters because renewals have been rare for this show. This is the first renewal for American Horror Story in almost seven years. FX last issued a multi-season order in January 2020, a three-season pickup covering Seasons 11, 12 and 13.

Season 13 is built as a crossover event, meaning characters and timelines from earlier seasons meet in one story. Set primarily in New York City, it centres on The Apollyon, a residential building with a portal to Hell in its basement.

The ensemble brings back familiar faces. The cast includes Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe, Leslie Grossman, Joey Pollari and Jessica Lange. Paul Anthony Kelly also joined for the 13th instalment.

Season 13 premiered on FX and Hulu on 24 September 2026, according to Variety. The series was created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, who executive produce alongside Ned Martel and Charlie Carver. It is produced by 20th Television.

The show also carries a long awards record. It has earned more than 100 Emmy nominations and 17 wins, with acting Emmys for Lange, Bates and James Cromwell.

For fans, this means no long goodbye next week. The story in The Apollyon will close its current chapter on 29 October, and another season is already on the books.
