Sony LIV Joins Prime Video India as an Add-On Subscription

Sony LIV is joining Prime Video India as an add-on, so Prime Video viewers in India can pay extra to unlock its shows, films and sport. Deadline reported the move on 21 October 2026. An add-on is a second paid service sold inside an app you already use.
The price is Rs 399 ($4.22) a month, or Rs 1,499 a year, according to Deadline. Sony LIV's own subscription page lists the same two prices, ₹399 monthly and ₹1499 yearly.
The catalogue is large. Subscribers get more than 450 movies, more than 300 shows, live sports and an on-demand library. The originals include the Scam franchise and the Gullak streaming series. Television hits from Sony's SET and SAB channels are also included, among them Kaun Banega Crorepati and Indian Idol.
Sport is the biggest draw on paper. Sony LIV holds rights to bilateral India cricket, the UEFA Champions League, the French Open, the Commonwealth Games and UFC. Add-on subscribers also get access to India's cricket tour of New Zealand.
Two executives were quoted on the announcement. Gaurav Bhasin is Head of AVOD Business and Marketplace at Prime Video India. AVOD stands for ad-supported video on demand, meaning services that are free to watch with advertisements. Rajesh Kaul is Chief Revenue Officer and Business Head of Sports and International at SPNI.
Advertising is part of the picture. Sony LIV's help centre says paid subscribers may still see ads on some content, including sports, LIV Exclusives and reality shows, both live and recorded. Viewers who expect an ad-free experience should check which categories they watch most.
This is not Sony LIV's first link to Amazon's devices. Amazon's Fire TV streaming devices have listed Sony Liv among their supported apps since at least a 2023 Amazon press release. Amazon also offered Sony Liv bundles during its Prime Day sale in 2022. The new add-on takes that relationship into the Prime Video app itself. Prime Video's India add-ons page now lists a "Subscribe to Sony LIV" option.
For the people watching, the practical change is simple. Sony LIV's titles and sport can now be bought from inside Prime Video, at one of two set prices, with the ad rules above applying to some of the content.
