Netflix Releases First Trailer for 'Taken: Natalee Holloway' Ahead of November 4 Premiere

Netflix has released the first trailer for Taken: Natalee Holloway, a three-part documentary that returns to the 2005 disappearance of the 18-year-old in Aruba. Hollywood Reporter reported the trailer, and Deadline reports that the series premieres on Netflix on November 4.
Natalee Holloway vanished on May 30, 2005, during a high school graduation trip to Aruba. She was 18. Her case has been followed closely for more than two decades, and the new series goes back over it from the start.
The documentary is produced by Story Syndicate, the company behind Titan: The OceanGate Disaster. Dani Sloane and Matthew Galkin direct. Deadline describes the series as coming from Liz Garbus' Story Syndicate.
The filmmakers had exclusive access to Natalee's mother, Beth Holloway, and to people who were with Natalee when she disappeared. Netflix's Tudum site says Beth Holloway has always vowed to find out what really happened to her daughter.
The series also covers the most recent turn in the case. In 2023, Joran van der Sloot confessed to killing Natalee Holloway, according to Hollywood Reporter's account of the trailer.
Netflix's title page lists the series as TV-14. That rating means the content is considered suitable for viewers 14 and older, with parental caution advised for younger children. It is filed under crime, documentary series and true crime documentaries.
For viewers who followed the case in the news, the trailer is the first look at how the series will present it. For everyone else, the story is one of a teenager who did not come home from a school trip, and a mother who kept looking. The three parts arrive on Netflix on November 4.
