Jon Gosselin and Two of His Children Are Filming a Netflix Documentary About 'Jon & Kate Plus 8'

Jon Gosselin is back in front of the cameras, and this time two of his children are with him. Netflix has announced a documentary about the family's years on television, and Jon is filming it with Collin and Hannah Gosselin, according to Variety.
The show at the centre of the project is Jon & Kate Plus 8. It ran for eleven seasons, from 2007 to 2017. It started on Discovery Health and later moved to TLC, following a family with sextuplets and twins. Netflix's own title page describes the show as a "highly controversial but popular" reality series about the parents of eight children.
The documentary is being produced for The Cinemart by Mike Gasparro and Julia Willoughby-Nason. Its official description says the family members do not agree about their shared childhood, or about the spotlight the show put on them. It says the film will look at the children who grew up on camera, the adults who built a brand around them, and the audience that watched.
The project lands just weeks after Collin Gosselin published a memoir. Titled In the Shadow of Eight, it came out in October 2026. In it, Collin describes his childhood on the show as dark and violent. He criticises his mother, Kate Gosselin, and alleges that she physically abused him when he was young. Page Six reported on the book's claims on October 13.
Collin also spoke at length about the book. NPR's Juana Summers interviewed him on October 13 about the off-camera trauma of his childhood, and the conversation is available on NPR's site.
For a general viewer, the important point is who is telling the story. This documentary is not being made about a family from the outside. Jon, Collin and Hannah are taking part, and their accounts already differ. Those accounts are the subject of the film.
Reality shows often leave their cast with a long shadow, and the people involved do not always agree on what happened. The documentary is set to look at that gap directly. Netflix has not, in the material available, given a release date.
The memoir's allegations are Collin's own account. They have not been tested in court.
