The Rings of Power Season 3 Arrives in Three Batches From November 11
Prime Video will release The Rings of Power Season 3 in three parts, starting on November 11. The first four episodes arrive that day, two more follow on November 18, and the final two episodes land on November 25, according to Variety.
That gives viewers three weekly steps rather than one drop. Prime Video is Amazon's streaming service, and the show is set in J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth, the world of The Lord of the Rings.
A new trailer shows Sauron's army of orcs, dragons and ringwraiths (the cloaked, undead riders of the books) tearing through Middle-earth. Actor Simon Pegg was revealed at San Diego Comic-Con in July as the voice of the Balrog, an ancient fire demon from Tolkien's stories, Deadline reported.
Behind the camera, the series is produced by showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay. A showrunner is the lead writer-producer who runs a series day to day. Directors Charlotte Brändström, Sanaa Hamri and Stefan Schwartz are working on the season, and Hamri and Schwartz each oversee several episodes.
The cast has also grown. Jamie Campbell Bower, Eddie Marsan, Andrew Richardson, Zubin Varla and Adam Young have joined for Season 3. Charlie Vickers plays Sauron, and Variety's fall TV preview describes a darker tone as Sauron's quest to forge the One Ring continues.
The series has a large existing audience. Variety has reported that The Rings of Power has attracted more than 185 million viewers overall.
For a production of this size, the release date is the point where months of work reach the screen. A crew of hundreds, and the writers and actors behind them, now have a fixed schedule to aim at. Prime Video's own pages list the season as coming soon, with a trailer available to watch.
The first episodes arrive on November 11, and the final two follow on November 25.
