Bukayo Saka's injury has left Arsenal worried. Manager Mikel Arteta said the problem "does not look good at all", after the winger was forced off in the Champions League draw at Bayern Munich.

The match ended 2-2 at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday, 21 October. Saka went down in the 10th minute while trying to pass the ball, with no opponent close to him. Arsenal's medical staff treated him briefly on the pitch before he hobbled off. Eberechi Eze came on in his place and later scored Arsenal's opening goal.

Speaking to TNT Sports, Arteta said the club were "a bit concerned" and would have to wait and see how serious the injury is. BBC Sport reported his comments. A quadriceps injury is a strain or tear in the large muscle at the front of the thigh. Fitness updates usually come over several days, once scans have been done.

Saka has been carrying a heavy workload, and the injury has interrupted his season. He picked up an Achilles problem in March and missed seven Arsenal games and the March international break. He came back to help Arsenal win the Premier League title, the club's first in 22 years. Earlier, in the 2024-25 season, a hamstring injury needed surgery and kept him out for more than three months, according to USA Today.

He has also been a big figure for England. At the 2026 World Cup, his minutes were managed, but he still scored a hat-trick in England's 6-4 third-place win over France. Saka has four goals in 11 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions this season.

Arsenal now face a squad problem as well as a personal one. Christos Tzolis is already out with a hamstring injury. Noni Madueke has moved from the left wing to the right to cover for Saka. Arteta will need a clear picture of Saka's condition before deciding how much the club can rely on him in the coming weeks.

For Arsenal fans, the result will matter less than the update on Saka. A 2-2 draw in Munich is a decent night's work, but a long lay-off for their most in-form attacker would test the squad. Saka is the sort of player who makes defenders think twice before they step up. Everyone at the Emirates will be hoping the news is better than Arteta's first words suggested.
