Bayern Munich 2-2 Arsenal: Declan Rice snatches a late draw in Munich

Declan Rice scored a late equaliser as Arsenal drew 2-2 with Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday, at Bayern's Allianz Arena.
The match swung back and forth. Eberechi Eze gave Arsenal the lead in the 25th minute, and the Guardian's live blog reported that he scored in the first half. Alphonso Davies levelled for Bayern about 10 minutes later, and Harry Kane made it 2-1 from the penalty spot. Arsenal did not give up. Rice's goal came late in the game, set up by Viktor Gyökeres.
The night also brought a worry for Arsenal. Bukayo Saka fell to the ground around the 10th minute and called straight away for treatment. He had to be replaced, and Mikel Arteta said afterwards that his condition was uncertain. Yahoo Sports described the injury as apparent at the time. Saka's replacement was Eze, who went on to score.
The Champions League is Europe's biggest club competition. Its opening stage, called the league phase, puts all the teams into one table. Every match counts toward a place in the knockout rounds that follow, so a draw is worth a point but not a win. Arsenal and Bayern are both still climbing that table, and neither wanted to leave Munich with nothing.
For Arsenal supporters who made the trip, Rice's goal was the moment that counted. BBC Sport described the travelling fans as delighted at the equaliser, and the late goal turned what looked like a tough evening into a point to build on.
For Bayern, the draw means a point dropped at home. Kane's penalty showed he is still among the sharpest finishers in the competition, but Davies's equaliser and the late Rice goal left the home side without the win they were chasing. Both teams now head into their next matches with the same question hanging over them: who will be fit?
Saka's condition will be the story to watch in the days ahead. Arsenal have not yet given a full update on how serious the problem is, and until they do, the focus stays on the player rather than the scoreline.
