Suspected Space Debris Turns Up in Borneo and a Minnesota Cornfield

Indonesian authorities are investigating the crash of a suspected Chinese rocket fragment, after a plantation worker found debris on Monday morning in Indonesian Borneo, according to Jakarta Post reporting. The object was described as a charred metallic fragment suspected to be rocket debris. Residents reported hearing a loud bang before it was found.
Indonesia's National Research and Innovation Agency, known as BRIN, has previously reported that space debris fell in West Kalimantan Province, the Indonesian province on Borneo. In that case, a fragment was found in Dusun Pengadang, in Pengadang Village in Sanggau Regency, and BRIN described the fallen object as not dangerous, according to its published report.
In the United States, a farmer discovered a massive metallic object in a cornfield in western Minnesota on October 14, 2026. The object is roughly 11 feet in diameter, according to the Star Tribune, which described it as apparent space debris. Local authorities said the object was presumably a space object, as NewsNation reported.
Experts believe the Minnesota object could have fallen from space, Discover Magazine reported.
