Filming has started on Dracula: The Crimson Code, a new version of the vampire story built around a female lead. Amanda Jiang, Joey Phillips, Richard Brake and Shayne Ward will lead the cast, Variety reported on 22 October 2026.

Jiang plays Countess Isolde Dragomir, a vampire aristocrat who has lived for centuries. The film is described as a contemporary, female-led reimagining of Dracula. It mixes gothic romance with supernatural thriller, and it is set in modern London and the English countryside.

The story turns on an old conflict between two vampire bloodlines, the Dragomirs and the Howes. Each family has its own long history, and the film follows the clash between them into the present day.

Andrea M. Catinella is directing from a screenplay by Enrico Tessarin. The producers are Tessarin, Jiang, Catinella and Carla Fuschillo, working for Starmist Films. Jiang is therefore both a lead performer and one of the people behind the project.

Starmist also has a premiere coming up. Its first feature, City of Masks, has its world premiere in London on 29 October. For the company, that puts a finished debut and a new production in the same few weeks.

Filming is the stage where a script becomes footage, and the cast list shows who will carry it. Plenty of decisions still lie ahead, from the edit to the sales and distribution deals that decide where and when audiences can see a film. For now, the production has moved from planning to the set.
