Xbox Cloud Playtime Gets Introductory Prices, From US$3.99

Microsoft has set introductory prices for a paid version of Xbox cloud gaming. The smallest bundle, 10 hours, costs US$3.99.
Cloud gaming lets you play a game that runs on Microsoft's servers and streams to your screen, so you do not need to download and install it on your console. Microsoft calls its paid offer Cloud Playtime, and sells it as Cloud playtime packs. Eurogamer reports the three introductory bundles as 10 hours for US$3.99, 25 hours for US$7.99 and 50 hours for US$11.99.
The packs are also offered as a pay-as-you-go option, charged by the hour, according to The Verge. That suits players who do not want a monthly subscription, or who only play now and then.
Xbox Insiders, the players who test new features before they reach everyone, can already stream with the paid service without an active Game Pass subscription. Microsoft announced the testing on 21 October 2026. It plans to roll the paid service out to all Xbox players in November.
Game Pass is Microsoft's subscription library. Its Essential tier offers unlimited cloud gaming from US$10 per month, with access to more than 50 games, as Microsoft described in December 2025. The top tier, Game Pass Ultimate, rose to US$29.99 per month in October 2025, a US$10 increase, Reuters reported. In September 2026, Microsoft said that from November it would change how cloud gaming is included with Game Pass. The company has not, in the material published so far, given every detail of that change in one place.
The paid packs come with an ad-free experience. Microsoft's free cloud gaming service, which it revealed earlier this year, shows adverts. Paying customers will still face waits at peak times, when many people are streaming at once. Microsoft says those waits will be shorter.
For players, the choice now comes down to habit. A monthly pass gives unlimited streaming with a larger library. Hour packs let you pay only for the time you play. The prices are introductory, and the November rollout is the next date to watch.
