The Mousetrap Names New West End Cast Ahead of Its 75th Year

Agatha Christie's murder mystery The Mousetrap is getting a new West End company, with a new cast and a refreshed theatre, before its 75th year on 25 November. The new company begins performances at St Martin's Theatre on 11 November, according to the production's announcement reported by WhatsOnStage.
Hannah Chissick will direct the new company. She is currently directing the UK and Ireland tour of the show. The new West End cast includes Marcus Adolphy as Major Metcalf, Jonathan Cobb as Detective Sergeant Trotter and Rosa Coduri-Fulford as Miss Casewell. Dean Graham plays Mr Paravicini, Dan Nicholson plays Giles Ralston and Jake Rory plays Christopher Wren. Gay Soper is Mrs Boyle and Sarah Twomey is Mollie Ralston.
The set is by Walt Spangler, the lighting by Nic Farman and the sound by Max Perryment. The production's producer is Brian Fenty.
The theatre is also changing. Studio Shayne Brady is overseeing a refurbishment of St Martin's Theatre's interiors. The work includes redesigned bars and new decorative details across the stalls, dress circle and upper circle. Mr Lyan Studio will create a cocktail menu for the bars.
The 75th anniversary will be marked with a gala performance on 25 November. That date is the same day in 1952 when the show first opened in the West End. The play grew out of Christie's radio play Three Blind Mice, first broadcast on 30 May 1947.
The run has also been extended. The West End production will now play at St Martin's Theatre until 18 July 2027, BroadwayWorld reported in August. A separate 75th anniversary tour will visit more than 25 cities across the UK, according to West End Theatre.
For anyone who has never seen it, the show is a whodunit. A group of strangers snowed into a guesthouse finds that a murder has happened, and one of them is the killer. Audiences are asked not to reveal the ending, which is why the show's programme has long carried a request to keep the secret. The new company gives the production a fresh set of faces for its anniversary year.
The new company opens at St Martin's Theatre on 11 November, two weeks before the gala.
