Fleetwood Mac's first fully authorised documentary now has a release date. Apple TV will debut Fleetwood Mac: The Chain on January 29, 2027, according to Deadline, which reported the date on October 22, 2026.

Frank Marshall directed the film. Deadline reports that The Kennedy/Marshall Company and White Horse Pictures produced it. Marshall is an Academy Award nominee, a fact that Apple included when it announced in November 2024 that Apple Original Films would release a documentary on the band.

The film features Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. Christine McVie died in 2022, so her place in the film rests on archive material and the interviews already recorded for it.

Fleetwood Mac has sold more than 220 million records worldwide, according to Deadline. The band's line-up changed many times over five decades, and the group's best-known songs have been heard by generations of listeners who never saw the band live.

Authorised means the band and its people took part in the project. Documentaries about rock groups often arrive without the cooperation of the members themselves, so a film made with the band's blessing is a different kind of project. For viewers, the practical point is simple: the film is coming to Apple TV, the streaming service, and it has a date.

The January slot places the film early in 2027, a few weeks into the new year. Streaming releases often arrive on a set day for all subscribers at once, so the film will be available worldwide to Apple TV subscribers on that date, not in cinemas first. Apple had not, in the material reported so far, announced a theatrical run.

Fans who want to track the release can watch Apple's newsroom and the official Fleetwood Mac channels for trailers and any further details. Until then, January 29, 2027 is the date to note.
