Dungeon Crawler Carl Gets an Ongoing Comic Book Series From Vault Comics

Dungeon Crawler Carl Gets an Ongoing Comic Book Series
Vault Comics will publish an ongoing comic book series based on Dungeon Crawler Carl, the fantasy story by author Matt Dinniman. The first issue will run to a double-sized 48 pages and reach comic book stores in January 2027, according to Variety.
The comic will adapt the Dungeon Crawler Carl webtoon, a comic built to be read by scrolling down a phone screen. The printed version will carry the same story in ongoing installments. After the first issue, new issues will arrive monthly.
The creative team is moving across from the webtoon. Writer Tevagah will continue on the comic, and Laurel Pursuit Studios, which draws the webtoon's artwork, will move over with the project. Artist Kuzomari has also joined. The art will be scaled up to suit the larger comic book page.
Covers follow a set pattern. Nathan Gooden will draw the main covers. Variant covers, which are alternative designs released alongside the main cover, will rotate among a group of artists. The list includes Ryan Ottley, Frank Cho, Katie Cook, Doug Mahnke and Luciano Fleitas, who also created the covers for the novels.
The books behind the comic have a large readership. Vault Comics says the series has sold more than 1 million copies. Dinniman writes in LitRPG, a style of fantasy that borrows the stats, levels and rules of video games. The main character, Carl, is a Coast Guard veteran.
The comic is one of several projects built on the series. A live-action series for Peacock, NBCUniversal's streaming service, is also in development. Universal International Studios and Seth MacFarlane's Fuzzy Door are behind it, with Chris Yost and Eric Heisserer serving as co-showrunners, the people who lead the day-to-day writing and production of a show.
For readers who prefer paper pages to a phone screen, the monthly issues will offer the story in print from January.
