Lucy Fry and Amanda Brugel Join Jensen Ackles in MGM+'s Rules of Prey

Lucy Fry and Amanda Brugel have been set as series regulars opposite Jensen Ackles in Rules of Prey, a crime thriller for MGM+. A series regular is an actor who appears in every episode of a season, not a guest who drops in for one or two.
According to Deadline, Fry will play Marcy, a Special Agent with the BCA, the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, a state investigations agency. Brugel will play Rose Marie, a BCA Superintendent, a senior officer who runs the agency's work on the ground. Together they form the investigative team around Ackles's character.
Ackles stars as Lucas Davenport, a former Minneapolis police detective. The studio describes Davenport as a righteous avenging angel with a sharp mind and an unconventional approach, in a press release from MGM announcing the project. MGM has greenlit the series, meaning it has been given the go-ahead to be made.
The show is created by Bruce Terris and based on the first novel in John Sandford's Prey series. Sandford's books have long followed Davenport through a run of murder cases, and this adaptation brings that character to the screen.
Rules of Prey is an eight-episode season from MGM Television and Take 5 Productions. It will premiere on MGM+ in the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Chile. That is a wide spread of markets, and each one is a separate listing for the platform to fill.
Behind a cast announcement sits a long chain of decisions. A studio has to find a writers' room, shoot the episodes and sell the show to dozens of countries before a single viewer sees it. Each new name is one more step along that path.
No premiere date has been announced. Viewers in the listed countries can expect further details from MGM+ as the launch approaches.
