Greta Van Fleet's 'Palace for the People' Debuts at No. 1 on Hard Rock Chart

Greta Van Fleet's fifth studio album, Palace for the People, debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Hard Rock Albums chart, dated Oct. 24. It is the band's fifth No. 1 on that chart, according to Billboard.
The album came out on Oct. 9, 2026. Its chart run follows four earlier chart-toppers: From the Fires (2017), Anthem of the Peaceful Army (2018), The Battle at Garden's Gate (2021) and Starcatcher (2023). Their 2017 EP, Black Smoke Rising, peaked at No. 10 on the same chart that year.
The album also posted numbers across several other charts. Luminate, the company that tracks U.S. music sales and streams, counted 30,000 equivalent album units for the album in the week ending Oct. 15. That is a single figure that converts streams and sales of songs into the album-sized total a chart uses.
On the Billboard 200, the main U.S. album chart, Palace for the People debuted at No. 9. That is the band's fourth top 10 on that chart. On Top Album Sales, which counts only copies people paid for, it sold 26,000 copies and debuted at No. 2.
Vinyl did well too. The album sold 17,000 vinyl copies, which put it at No. 1 on Billboard's Vinyl Albums chart. It is the band's third No. 1 on that list.
Behind the album on the hard rock chart, Queen's Greatest Hits is at No. 2 and Nickelback's The Best Of Nickelback: Volume 1 is at No. 3, per Billboard's rock chart page.
For fans who want to see the band live, the official Greta Van Fleet site lists a show on Dec. 12, 2026, in Warren.
Chart positions are counts, and each one is built from people choosing to play or buy a record. The 26,000 copies sold in the week are 26,000 separate purchases, each made by someone who decided the album was worth paying for.
