Fleetwood Mac's 'Greatest Hits' Reaches Top 10 on Billboard's Album Sales Chart for the First Time After Expanded Reissue

Fleetwood Mac's Greatest Hits, first released in 1988, has entered the top 10 of Billboard's Top Album Sales chart for the first time, landing at No. 10 on the chart dated Aug. 15, 2026. The leap follows an expanded deluxe reissue that added seven songs to the original 16-track compilation. According to Billboard, the album sold nearly 6,000 copies in the United States in the tracking week ending Aug. 6 — a 286% increase over the previous week, as measured by Luminate, the data firm that powers Billboard's charts.

The Top Album Sales chart tracks pure album sales, not streaming equivalents, so every unit represents a physical or digital purchase. That distinction matters here, because the reissue's physical rollout was the engine behind the surge. The deluxe edition arrived on digital download and streaming platforms on June 10, with physical formats — six double-vinyl variants and a two-CD set — following on July 31.

The album's chart performance improved across multiple Billboard rankings. On the Billboard 200, the umbrella chart that blends pure sales, streaming equivalent album units (the measure that converts plays into album sales) and track equivalent units, Greatest Hits climbed from No. 69 to No. 13, surpassing its previous Billboard 200 peak of No. 14 set in 1989. On the Vinyl Albums chart it reached a new peak of No. 5, beating a prior high of No. 7 from 2019. It also vaulted 18-4 on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart, rose 14-3 on the Top Rock Albums chart to match a peak first reached in March, and re-entered the Indie Store Album Sales chart at No. 6.

The original Greatest Hits compilation had never climbed higher than No. 13 on the Top Album Sales chart, a peak it reached in 2016. The new deluxe edition's seven additional tracks pushed it past that ceiling.

Fleetwood Mac's catalogue has been a steady presence on the Billboard 200 for years. As of mid-June 2026, the band's 1977 album Rumours was in its 688th total week on the chart, sitting at No. 23, The Second Disc reported. In March 2026, Greatest Hits itself had climbed to No. 21 on the Billboard 200, Forbes noted, while dipping three spots to No. 23 on the Top Streaming Albums chart in the same tracking week.
