Manchester City striker Erling Haaland says he has "been a camper my whole life" in Call of Duty. Camping, in the shooter series, means staying hidden in one spot and waiting for an opponent to walk into view.

The admission came during a one-on-one match against English rapper Harrison "Aitch" Armstrong in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. The match was published on 21 October 2026 in a video on Haaland's YouTube channel. The video was framed as a contest to decide who is "The King of Manchester". It carries an #ad label, which marks it as paid promotion.

Haaland described his camping habit as "embarrassing", according to Dexerto. He also had early access to the game. GameSpot published its account of the admission on 22 October 2026.

Modern Warfare 4 has been playable since 16 October 2026 for people who preordered the Standard or Vault Editions. It launches for everyone on 23 October 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The publisher's launch notes list what players get on day one. There are 20 multiplayer maps in total, according to the patch notes. Twelve of those are Core 6v6 maps, meaning six players per team, and four are for Gunfight, a two-versus-two mode. The launch blog covers the maps and modes, and a separate post lists 33 weapons at launch.

For players who want to try their own hiding spots, the launch date gives them a clear start. Everyone else gets to find out whether the King of Manchester title holds up in a proper lobby.
