Amanda Seyfried is set to star opposite Ramy Youssef and Sharon Stone in Martha & Muhammad, a new comedy from the independent studio A24, according to Deadline.

The film is Youssef's feature directorial debut. He is directing from his own script, and A24 is financing the project. Deadline also named the producers: Youssef's own company, Cairo Cowboy, along with Eli Bush, Ronald Bronstein and Josh Safdie for Central, Christopher Storer and Tyson Bidner for American Light & Fixture, and A24 itself.

Seyfried has a busy run of projects behind her. She played opposite Sydney Sweeney in The Housemaid, a Lionsgate thriller based on the New York Times bestselling novel by Freida McFadden. She also played the title role in The Testament of Ann Lee for Searchlight Pictures.

Her next projects are already moving. She has wrapped production on Octet, the musical written and directed by Lin-Manuel Miranda. She will also appear opposite Scoot McNairy in The Life and Deaths of Wilson Shedd, directed by Tim Blake Nelson.

For a casting story, the details matter. A film like this starts as a script, then a director, then a financing partner, and only then does a lead actor sign on. Each step is a decision made by a specific person, and this announcement marks one of them.

It does not set out a release date, and that is the next decision still to come.
