Jenna Ortega Says a TV Break May Follow Wednesday

Jenna Ortega says she will probably be off television for a while once Netflix's Wednesday ends. She made the remark on the podcast Happy Sad Confused, as Variety reported on October 22, 2026. The series, which stars Ortega, is heading into its third season.
Her screen career started young. She debuted on television at age 9 in Jane the Virgin, then spent three seasons on Stuck in the Middle. She said she bounced from show to show for many years as a child, and now wants room for new things.
The same week, Ortega appeared on the cover of Vogue's November 2026 issue. In the cover interview, titled "Jenna Ortega Won't Be Boxed In," she talks about sudden fame, taking back control of her career, and how she sees herself now. Vogue published the piece on October 22.
She told the magazine that she does not watch her own movies. She also does not check the box office updates her team sends her, because she does not want the work to become "a numbers thing." Reviews are off limits too. She said reading them would send her into "a psychosis of some sort."
Her relationship with her phone has changed as well. She said she is on social media "less and less," partly because much of what she sees there is "garbage AI." She recently broke her phone and left it unfixed for a few days, going without social media and technology for that stretch.
Her next film arrives soon. Klara and the Sun, adapted from the Kazuo Ishiguro novel, opens in theaters on October 23. Ortega stars in the film, which follows an artificial friend named Klara, a robot who watches over a sick child.
For fans, the news is a mix of a pause and a new release. The film opens this week, and the comments suggest the actress is focused on what comes after the series ends.
