Erin Foster, the creator of the Netflix comedy Nobody Wants This, says she disagrees with her co-star Adam Brody's remarks about Israel and Gaza, but that he is entitled to his view. Deadline reported her comments on October 23, 2026, the same week Season 3 is streaming on Netflix.

The show follows Kristen Bell as Joanne Williams, an agnostic podcaster who falls for Brody's character, Rabbi Noah Roklov. It is loosely based on Foster's own relationship with her husband, Simon Tikhman. Foster also appears in the new season, playing Nicole in episode 304. Netflix renewed the series for Season 3 in November 2025, after the first season premiered in 2024.

The trouble began with an interview. Brody told GQ, "Put me down as thinking it's a genocide. Put me down as wanting a free Palestine." Foster was asked about those words and gave her answer for an upcoming episode of the podcast Not Skinny But Not Fat. "While I love Adam, I also disagree with him. And that's okay," she said. She also said, "You know, it's complicated."

Foster said she wants Jewish fans to know that she sees them, hears them and understands how they feel. She described Nobody Wants This as "always been and always will be a love letter to Judaism." The Times of Israel has reported that Foster converted to Judaism, and that the series has largely avoided the subject of Israel.

Brody's remarks also drew a sharp reaction from inside the production. The show's Season 1 rabbi consultant called him an "ignorant Jew" for describing the situation in Gaza as a genocide. That criticism came before Foster's comments.

Foster's response does not change what viewers can watch. Season 3 is already available on Netflix, and Foster's guest appearance is part of it. Whether the debate affects the show's future has not been addressed by Netflix or by Foster.
