Richard Gadd, Bill Camp and Ray McKinnon Join Michael Keaton's Western "Rode to Ruin"

Richard Gadd has joined the cast of "Rode to Ruin," a Western thriller directed by Michael Keaton, Variety reported on 23 October 2026. The film is now in production in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Gadd plays Clive McKinney. He is joining a cast that includes Bill Camp and Ray McKinnon, who have also come on board. Keaton stars in the film as well as directing it.
Morgan Freeman and Laura Linney also star. Chris Candy, Travis Hammer, Thom Rivera and Derek Hinkey have joined the cast too, in supporting roles. The screenplay is by R. Dean McCreary.
The film has a distributor already. Angel has acquired worldwide rights to "Rode to Ruin," meaning the right to sell and show it in every country. Angel will release it in cinemas in 2027.
For most viewers, the timeline is the useful part. Filming is happening now, and a cinema date is set for next year. Between those two points sit the editing, the marketing and the decisions about how the film is shown, all of them made by the studio and the people who work for it.
Keaton's double role, as director and actor, is the kind of arrangement that often shapes a set, since one person is watching the scene from behind the camera while also performing in it. The cast list is long for a film still in its early stages of release, and it brings together performers from television, stage and film.
Further casting and production details have not yet been announced.
