Sofia Hasmik, Grace Kelly Quigley and Imogen Waterhouse Cast in Indie Feature Sissy

Three actors have joined Sissy, the debut indie feature from writer-director Dejan Mrkic, according to Deadline, which reported the casting on 23 October 2026.
Sofia Hasmik plays Kim, an ageing former performer in adult films who unexpectedly takes custody of her half-sister, Franki, after Franki is abandoned. Franki is 11, and Grace Kelly Quigley plays her. The story unfolds over one relentless night as the two navigate Los Angeles and cross paths with a notorious Hollywood horror producer.
Mrkic is directing from his own original script, so the film does not adapt an existing book, play or earlier movie. He will also co-produce with Javier Gonzalez, a producer who won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival for In the Summers. The Grand Jury Prize is one of Sundance's best-known awards, handed out by the festival's jury at the end of its competition. Gonzalez has also worked on A24's Funny Pages and the IFC Midnight thriller Swallow.
Hayden Mason is the cinematographer, the crew member who decides how each shot is lit and framed. Behind the camera, that role shapes much of how a film looks and feels on screen.
Quigley is best known to many television viewers for playing Maya Rubin opposite Rose Byrne across three seasons of Apple TV+'s Physical. Imogen Waterhouse is also joining the cast. She stars in the third season of Apple TV+'s The Buccaneers and previously led the lead role in The CW's The Outpost.
Casting is often the first public sign that an independent film is moving toward production. Independent films are made outside the big studios, usually on smaller budgets, and their producers must assemble financing, a crew and a cast before shooting can begin. Casting announcements do not, on their own, set a shooting schedule or a release date.
For Mrkic, the announcement marks a step from writing to working with a full cast on a feature of his own. For the actors, it adds a film to their lists of credits, and for viewers, it adds a title to watch for as more details emerge.
