Cinépolis, the Mexico-based cinema chain, has picked up Latin American distribution rights to the Spanish film 5 More Minutes (5 Minutos Más). In plain terms, the company will handle the film's release in cinemas across the region. It is set to open on January 28, 2027, according to Variety.

The film is a time-warping thriller directed by Javier Ruiz Caldera. Comedian Berto Romero wrote it and also stars in it. The cast includes Javier Cámara, who won the Best Supporting Actor prize at the San Sebastián Film Festival.

The deal is a little unusual for Cinépolis. Miguel Rivera, the company's vice president of global programming and content, said the chain usually picks up only Mexican rights to films, about 90% of the time. A regional deal like this one falls outside that pattern.

The film has already travelled beyond Spain. In November 2025, Variety reported that Barcelona studio Filmax had acquired international sales rights to the project. International sales rights are the rights to sell a film to distributors in other countries, and the studio handles that process on the film's behalf.

For audiences in Latin America, the deal means a planned big-screen release. Cinema tickets are the simplest way to see a film when it opens, and a regional distributor makes that possible across several countries at once. Anyone wanting to see it will need to wait until the January date, which is still months away.

The Spanish-language title is 5 Minutos Más, and the English version used in the Cinépolis deal is 5 More Minutes.
